Massimo Florio is Professor Emeritus of Public Economics at the University of Milan and former Head of the Economics Department. His expertise includes privatization, cost-benefit analysis of public investments, EU regional and industrial policy, and the economics of science. For over 20 years, he coordinated the European Commission’s Guide to Cost-Benefit Analysis of Investment Projects. He is the author of Investing in Science (MIT Press, 2019) and Privatisation of Knowledge (Routledge, 2023). He has led studies for institutions such as the EC, EIB, OECD, CERN, and the Italian Space Agency. He is also the founder and Honorary President of CSIL.

The conference was attended by the economist Massimo Florio, Professor at the University of Milan, who worked on the first study on the impact of a scientific research infrastructure. The Cost-benefit analysis of the Large Hadron Collider to 2025 and beyond was concluded in July 2015, with the benefits outweighing the costs. […]”
